An operation spanning Suba, Usaquén and Barrios Unidos resulted in five adults detained and a minor apprehended, alongside weapons and a high-end vehicle seized.

Officers from the Alhambra police station detected two vehicles behaving irregularly whilst patrolling the Suba area in the north of the Colombian capital. When they attempted to stop them for inspection, the occupants fled, initiating a lengthy pursuit that crossed through Usaquén and Barrios Unidos.
During the flight, one of the vehicles struck agents who were stationed at the checkpoint. Subsequently, the suspects fired several times at the patrol cars pursuing them, sparking a gunfight in the middle of the city. Police officers returned fire and ultimately managed to block the escapees' path and detain them.
Following the arrest, three pistols with a magazine and ammunition, a luxury van, two licence plates from another vehicle, three mobile phones and cash were seized. Authorities consulted judicial records of those detained and found that all had extensive histories of serious crimes including theft, receiving stolen goods, drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession and kidnapping.
The five adults were handed over to the General Prosecutor's Office. A prosecutor will file charges against them in the coming hours for falsifying vehicle identification marks, assault against a public official and illegal weapons possession. Meanwhile, detectives from the Judicial Police are investigating whether this group is linked to other vehicle thefts that have occurred recently in Bogotá.
