Five individuals accused of stealing vehicles in the south-western part of the Colombian capital were detained.

In the Bogotá locality of Kennedy, agents from the metropolitan police force apprehended five subjects linked to the theft of motor vehicles. During a cordon operation, two of those involved were caught in the act. As a result, two cars and a pair of motorcycles were recovered and returned to their owners.
The officer in charge of the district, Juan Montilla, clarified that two of the arrested individuals were using a transport application to deceive users. Once the vehicle was boarded, they intimidated the driver with a traumatic pistol and seized the property.
The arrested individuals, along with the weapons and recovered property, were placed under judicial custody to begin the corresponding legal proceedings. Official figures indicate that, during the first half of the current year, the police unit in this area has returned 72 motorcycles and 65 automobiles to their legal owners, a result that authorities attribute to the reinforcement of surveillance operations in the sector.
