A man originally from Curaçao was arrested at El Dorado international airport in Bogotá, capital of Colombia. Colombian police identified the detainee as Roberto Rafael Daantje, who had an Interpol red notice and was being sought in 190 member countries of the organisation.
According to Colombian media, the arrest took place when Daantje was attempting to enter Colombia from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Authorities indicate that the suspect had allegedly held a leadership position within an international criminal network dedicated to large-scale cocaine trafficking.
No information has yet been released about which country requested his capture or whether he will be extradited. Colombian authorities confirmed that they will continue with the corresponding investigations.
