Man confesses to killing his partner in south Bogotá following dispute over social media videos
In the Ciudad Bolívar locality, in the south of the Colombian capital, a case of domestic violence was recorded that ended in death. Alexander Ardila is the man accused of taking the life of Nini Johana Londoño, with whom he shared more than a decade of relationship and had three minor children.
According to information gathered by the outlet Pulzo, the cohabitation between the two was going through a period of significant tension. The alleged aggressor told a journalist that one of the reasons for the constant friction was that his partner was broadcasting live on TikTok. Ardila stated that, from his point of view, those recordings showed behaviours that he did not consider appropriate when the minors were present.
The fatal outcome occurred whilst the woman was broadcasting from a commercial establishment. The accused heard that an internet user was proposing to her to go out to purchase alcoholic beverages. Ardila recounted that, overcome by rage and jealousy, he went to the location. There, inside a bakery in the neighbourhood, he attacked her with a sharp weapon.
The investigative bodies determined that Londoño received numerous stab wounds. In the enquiry it was mentioned that the total number of injuries would have been a dozen. The woman died at the scene of the crime as a result of the severity of the wounds.
The news caused distress amongst relatives, residents of the area and groups working to eradicate gender violence. As a consequence of the event, three children were left unprotected. The Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF) assumed their custody and is providing the support required to safeguard their integrity and rights.
Ardila remains linked to the criminal investigation awaiting the judges to define his legal situation. Should the courts declare him guilty, he could receive a lengthy custodial sentence for the crime of aggravated homicide.
State bodies took the opportunity to insist that the population should resort to care routes when facing family problems or assaults, with the aim of preventing situations of discord from culminating in irreparable tragedies such as the one experienced in Ciudad Bolívar.
