Colombia's Supreme Court of Justice ordered the National Police to conduct senator Martha Peralta Epieyú to a questioning hearing, as part of the investigations linked to the case of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD).
Peralta, who is part of the Historic Pact, must appear before the judicial authority to answer questions about her alleged participation in the facts being investigated related to the state entity responsible for disaster prevention and response in the country.
The Supreme Court's decision was notified on 18 June 2026. The congresswoman, who has also been linked to the Indigenous and Social Alternative Movement (Mais), must present herself before the judicial investigators to clarify her possible role in the corruption scandal that has affected various public officials.
The UNGRD case has generated multiple judicial investigations against politicians and public servants for alleged irregularities in contracts and the management of resources allocated to disaster risk management and emergency response in different regions of Colombia.
The order for questioning means that the police authorities have the power to transport the legislator before the judge or prosecutor handling the case, in case she does not voluntarily appear for the judicial citation.
