A structure dedicated to trafficking in illicit substances ceased operations in the department of Cundinamarca following an operation that resulted in twelve people being deprived of their liberty. The gang, known as 'Los Oporto', operated in the La Sabana region and, according to investigators, had connections with the Clan del Golfo.
The regional administrator, Jorge Emilio Rey, announced the result through a message on digital platforms. He indicated that since taking office, he had set the goal of dismantling armed groups that enrich themselves through illegal activities in the savanna territory.
"Today we have a new and forceful result," said the governor, highlighting the coordination between the departmental administration and the uniformed forces.
The operation was carried out following several weeks of surveillance led by the SIJIN, a unit of the police body of La Sabana. Detectives determined that the criminal group had its main base in Facatativá, although it also carried out activities in other localities in different provinces of the department.
The twelve detentions constitute a significant setback for drug dealing in the area, according to authorities. The Public Prosecutor's Office assumed the investigation to establish the degree of participation of each of the arrested individuals.
