A man was taken into police custody after uniformed officers found him transporting narcotics concealed on his torso, on a road in the department of Cundinamarca.

The operation was carried out at a location known as Valsalice, on the road connecting Fusagasugá with Bogotá. Officers from the Traffic and Transport Section intercepted a public transport vehicle headed towards the capital.

Upon inspecting one of the passengers, the agents discovered that he was carrying three packages of coca paste and three more of cocaine hydrochloride fastened to his body. The seized material is estimated to have been equivalent to approximately 7,000 units for distribution.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the illicit merchandise was to leave the municipality of Puerto Asís, in Putumayo, bound for the Colombian capital.

The detainee was brought before a guarantees judge, who upheld his detention for the offence of trafficking, manufacturing or possession of psychoactive substances. The judicial investigation now rests with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation.

The National Police assured that it will maintain interdiction operations in that zone of national territory and urged residents to report facts related to micro-trafficking by calling 123.
