A man died on Monday night in the San Cristóbal neighbourhood, south of Bogotá, after being attacked with gunfire in an incident that authorities are classifying as a possible contract killing. The crime occurred at 15th Street and 6th Avenue, near the church in the sector, according to information provided by the Bogotá Metropolitan Police.

According to preliminary accounts, the deceased was moving through the sector when he was intercepted by unknown individuals who shot him on several occasions. The victim, whose identity has not been officially revealed, died at the site of the attack.

Following the report of gunfire, officers from the San Cristóbal station responded to the scene and cordoned off the area to preserve material evidence. Investigators from the CTI of the General Prosecutor's Office are conducting initial investigations to establish the motives for the crime, identify those responsible, and determine whether it is a settling of accounts between criminal gangs or another type of selective assault.

The incident caused alarm among neighbourhood residents, who gathered in the surroundings of the homicide site whilst emergency services removed the body. No arrests of suspects have been reported so far.
