A judge ordered that sub-superintendent Yeison Andrés Mosquera Moreno should remain in custody at his home, accused of leading alongside a civilian woman a scheme of illegal loans against other uniformed officers.
According to authorities, Mosquera Moreno and Luz Miryam Marulanda Moreno allegedly offered borrowed money to police officers stationed in Cértegui, Chocó. As a requirement, applicants had to sign bills of exchange without specifying amount or date.
When the officers finished paying what they owed, the documents were not returned to them. Instead, the accused allegedly filled in those documents with higher sums than what had actually been loaned. Thirteen people reported this conduct to authorities.
Subsequently, those promissory notes were allegedly transferred to a cooperative whose location is unknown. That entity allegedly took legal action against the injured police officers, obtaining rulings that allowed the withholding of up to a quarter of their salaries.
Both defendants were charged with procedural fraud, falsification of private documents and illicit enrichment.
