Police seize 50 kilos of coca base on Nariño road

National Police officers confiscated fifty kilograms of coca base on a road in the department of Nariño, located in south-western Colombia. The seizure took place during surveillance operations carried out by members of the El Empate Police Sub-station.

Officers discovered the narcotic whilst inspecting key routes and areas in the zone. In addition to the alkaloid, they retained a private motor vehicle that apparently was being used to transport the merchandise, along with a mobile phone device.

The authorities handed over the confiscated items to judicial bodies so they could continue with case proceedings. The institution stated that these actions form part of a crash plan against drug trafficking and criminal networks that harm the peace and security of Nariño residents.

According to what was published by Policía Nacional de Colombia, checkpoints and permanent patrols on the department's roads continue to yield results that help diminish illegal operations and protect neighbouring communities.
