Officers in Larnaca placed a 38-year-old female and a 52-year-old male under arrest on Saturday as they travelled in a car, linking them to break-ins and purse snatches that occurred over several months this summer and autumn.

Details shared by Cyprus Mail indicate that a 63-year-old homeowner filed a report on July 28 stating that someone had taken her handbag whilst inside her house. The bag included over €600 and various bank cards.

On October 2, another resident, aged 85, told police that her handbag had likewise vanished from inside her dwelling. That loss included more than €100 and a payment card. The card was subsequently charged at a number of retailers in the town later that day.

Detectives gathered enough evidence to request judicial warrants for the duo. Law enforcement intercepted the two whilst driving on Saturday. A prosecutor was set to ask a Larnaca judge to keep them in pre-trial detention during a session on Sunday.
