The Strakonice news outlet strakonicky.denik.cz reported that dozens of police officers surrounded Švandy Dudáka street in Strakonice on Wednesday afternoon. Local residents were not permitted to leave their homes or approach windows, and entry to and exit from the street were blocked.
"Avoid the area and its surroundings. The man may be dangerous," warned Štěpánka Schwarzová, spokesperson for South Bohemian police, after 2 p.m.
According to Schwarzová, all available patrols were dispatched to the street. Police have not identified any injured persons so far.
According to information from local residents, the man was detained and led away in handcuffs to his home. "It is a gentleman with whom there have been problems for some time," locals stated.
According to unverified information, the man had fired from a firearm. Police have not yet confirmed this fact.
