Inmate Erik Šabata escapes from workplace in Znojmo, police seek public assistance
Convicted criminal Erik Šabata left an unguarded workplace in Znojmo on 2 June and did not return. Police are searching for the man who was serving a ten-year sentence for property crimes.

According to znojemsky.denik.cz, inmate Erik Šabata left the unguarded workplace in Znojmo on 2 June after 9 p.m. and has not returned since. He was working outside the Znojmo prison compound as part of the legally mandated work obligation for convicted prisoners.
"The man was serving a ten-year sentence in Znojmo prison primarily for property crimes," said police spokesman Petr Vala.
Police officers are investigating the fugitive's possible contacts, places where he may be staying, and other circumstances that could lead to his apprehension. Vala also appealed to the public for cooperation: "Based on information obtained so far, the wanted man should not behave violently. Nevertheless, we are asking the public to exercise caution and cooperate. Any information about his whereabouts or movements can be reported by calling the emergency line 158 or at any police station."
Erik Šabata has a registered address in the Třebíč region. His description: slim build, height 174 to 176 centimetres, blue-green eyes, straight brown hair, apparent age 30 to 35 years old.
The man is suspected of committing the offence of obstructing the enforcement of an official decision and expulsion.
