Brno City Court on Tuesday opened the main hearing in the case of a soldier who allegedly attacked with a knife brigadier general Roman Hyťha in September last year. The state prosecutor has charged the man with several criminal offences, including causing serious bodily harm.
The accused soldier allegedly attacked the head of the Army's intelligence security section in Brno barracks in September 2024. General Hyťha suffered injuries that required medical treatment. The court has not yet disclosed details of the motive for the attack or the circumstances of the incident.
The state prosecutor stated in his charge that the soldier acted intentionally and caused the victim injuries constituting serious bodily harm. The case drew attention owing to the high-ranking position of the assaulted officer in the hierarchy of the Czech Army.
Brno City Court will now gradually examine the evidence and question witnesses. No verdict has yet been delivered. The case is continuing with further hearings.
