Murder of foreign national in Prague 3: police search for suspect, victim reportedly Israeli businessman
Prague police are investigating the death of a foreign national from Wednesday in Seifertova Street. Israeli media have identified the victim as businessman Tony Bargig.

Prague police have opened criminal proceedings on suspicion of murder after a foreign national born in 1971 was killed on Wednesday in Seifertova Street in Prague 3, according to ceskenoviny.cz. Spokesperson Richard Hrdina said that police will not be releasing further details at this time and are focused on apprehending the suspect.
"Investigation has established that someone else was involved in his death, and therefore they have initiated criminal proceedings on suspicion of committing the crime of murder and are searching for the suspect," police stated on X.
Czech police have not yet confirmed the victim's identity. Israeli news server Ynet News and other local media today identified the deceased as 54-year-old businessman Tony Bargig, nicknamed the "king of slot machines". Bargig was said to have been living permanently in Prague in recent years and to have moved a substantial part of his business activities there.
According to Israeli media, Bargig previously faced charges related to illegally operating a network of fifteen gaming establishments in Israel between 2008 and 2014. An Israeli court sentenced him in 2020 to fifteen months' imprisonment and ordered him to pay a total of 1.35 million shekels, approximately nine million Czech crowns. Bargig subsequently also dealt with a tax dispute — Israeli authorities alleged that he had failed to declare part of the income from operating gambling establishments.
Czech police have not officially commented on the Israeli identification of the victim or other information from local media.
