In the early hours of Sunday, a violent confrontation occurred between two young men in Trojická Street in the city centre. One used a cold weapon against the other. The injuries inflicted proved fatal, confirmed Jan Rybanský, spokesman for the Prague police.
"This morning just after one o'clock, police responded to Trojická Street, where a conflict between two men occurred, with one using a knife against the other," Rybanský described the incident. Law enforcement detained the aggressor at the scene. "The suspect is currently charged with the crime of murder," he added.
Emergency responders worked on the injured man for more than thirty minutes. "We resuscitated him for over half an hour. The paramedics secured the airway, stopped the bleeding, established intravenous access and administered medication. Despite all their efforts, the man died at the scene," stated Jana Poštová, spokeswoman for the Prague emergency service.
Healthcare workers also treated the second participant in the incident, who sustained a hand injury. According to information from the Novinky.cz website, both foreign nationals were around twenty years old.
Prague detectives are now investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. The motive and exact course of the conflict remain unknown.
