Accused in murder of teacher Eliška: years in seclusion, then fatal attack

The body of Eliška, a popular teacher, was found by the Metuje river near Velké Poříčí in the Náchod district. A thirty-four-year-old man has been accused of her murder. According to Blesk.cz, neighbours describe him as eccentric, someone they scarcely knew.

According to information from CNN Prima News, the accused had spent more than a decade in almost complete isolation from the outside world. He rarely left his flat and relied on his mother, who brought him food — reportedly so that she would not have to feel ashamed in front of the neighbours. His world was the computer and games.

In his youth, he was expelled from technical college. Years ago, he ended up in hospital with suspected mental illness, but did not complete treatment and withdrew into his home again. People in the area barely knew him.

Broken computer as trigger

What prompted the man to leave his flat after such a long time was reportedly a trivial reason — a broken computer. He put on a hooded sweatshirt, donned gloves, and went out. He allegedly chose his victim at random in the area.

He attacked Eliška only a few dozen metres from her home. He inflicted multiple stab and cut wounds on her, which led to her death.

Custody and investigation

"A judge of the District Court in Náchod decided to remand the accused in custody. The man is now being prosecuted in remand. The case continues to be investigated by regional criminal investigators from Hradec Králové together with those from Náchod," said police spokesman Martin Stránský at the weekend.

Eliška's death deeply affected the entire community of Velké Poříčí, where she worked as a teacher and was well-liked among the people.
