Woman from Česká Krumlov area faces charges of dog breeding, exchanging puppies for alcohol
A 59-year-old woman from the Česká Krumlov area is being investigated for keeping dogs in unsuitable conditions. She faces up to four years in prison.

According to ČT24, police are investigating a 59-year-old woman from the Česká Krumlov area who allegedly kept and bred dogs in unsuitable conditions since at least 2020. During a house search carried out in January of this year, criminal investigators found fifteen dogs in the house, seven of which were puppies.
The dogs were not properly vaccinated, some of them lacked microchips, and the woman did not pay the local council fee for them. "Breeding also occurred without maintaining bloodline standards, which resulted in undesirable genetic burden in individual litters," police stated on their website.
According to investigators, the woman handed over newborn puppies to interested parties often before the time had passed when they should have been separated from their mother. In exchange, she accepted alcohol, tobacco products, or poultry intended for consumption. One of her customers took at least thirty puppies from her over three years, which he subsequently resold.
The woman is being investigated on suspicion of committing the offence of keeping animals in unsuitable conditions. If her guilt is proven in court, she faces a prison sentence of between six months and four years.
