59-year-old woman allegedly drove corpse from Ebersberg to Sylvensteinspeicher

According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, a 59-year-old woman from Miesbach district has come under police scrutiny in the case of a Romanian man found dead near Lenggries. The woman is said to have employed the 64-year-old man as a labourer. According to police, she transported his corpse from a business in Ebersberg district by vehicle just under 100 kilometres to a car park on federal road B307 near Lenggries. She is being investigated for failure to provide assistance.

A passer-by discovered the man's corpse on the car park in the early morning of 23 August at approximately 1.25 a.m., located about 400 metres north of the Faller Klammbrücke at Sylvensteinspeicher. The identity of the deceased was initially unclear. Only in cooperation with Romanian authorities were officers able to establish who the man was. He had no fixed residence in Bavaria.

On the night of discovery itself, officers from the permanent criminal investigation service of the Weilheim Criminal Police Inspectorate, as well as specialists in forensic evidence, took over the investigation. The B307 was closed until midday on 23 August, which led to considerable traffic disruptions at times. On the same day, the corpse was autopsied at the Institute for Forensic Medicine. The doctors found no indications of a violent death.

On Thursday, officers from Weilheim Criminal Inspectorate, in coordination with Munich II State Prosecutor's Office, searched two properties in Ebersberg and Miesbach districts. The police had previously appealed to the public to report any suspicious observations from the night of 22 to 23 August.

The time of death, exact cause of death, and the reason for the transport of the corpse remain unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
