20-year-old remanded in custody following fatal crash in Tilst

Aarhus Court decided on Wednesday to remand a 20-year-old man in custody until 5 August. He is charged with causing a woman's death during a car chase in Tilst. This was reported by a prosecutor from East Jutland Police to Politiken.

The remand is extended in the interests of public confidence in the administration of justice.

The incident took place on 23 June in the evening. Police were called because several vehicles were allegedly being driven recklessly near a shopping centre in the area.

When the 20-year-old refused to stop, a patrol began pursuing him. During the flight, he accelerated sharply.

Shortly before midnight, his car crashed into a house on Hindøvænget. A 64-year-old woman who was inside died instantly.

According to police information, the young man was driving at approximately 109 kilometres per hour.

Passengers have stated that they attempted to persuade the driver to stop, but without success.
