A 59-year-old man living at a facility for the mentally vulnerable in Hammel has been arrested after stabbing a female employee with a knife. The 39-year-old case worker is in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Violence broke out at a residential facility in Hammel on Wednesday morning when a male resident attacked a female employee with a knife.
The incident took place shortly after 11 o'clock on Jagtvej, where the municipality runs a facility for people with mental health vulnerabilities.
The 39-year-old employee, who works as a case worker, was injured during the attack and had to be taken to hospital. East Jutland Police initially reported that the woman's life was in danger. Later in the afternoon, the authorities stated that her condition had been stabilised, although it remained serious.
Officers arrived at the address shortly after the alarm and apprehended the perpetrator. He is a 59-year-old man who himself lives at the facility.
On Thursday, the arrested man will appear in a bail hearing, the police confirm.
The mayor of Favrskov Municipality, Lars Storgaard (K), has issued a statement on the case.
"We are all deeply shocked by what has happened, and our thoughts are with the injured employee and her family," the mayor said according to TV2.
He added that the municipality has initiated crisis support for colleagues and residents at the facility, and that management is present to ensure safety following the violent attack.
The municipality is working to shed light on how the knife attack could have taken place.
