A man from Sweden was seriously injured when he attempted to settle a violent altercation in Copenhagen's city centre. Now the perpetrator is being sought, but has not yet been arrested.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening on Islands Brygge, where football fans had gathered to watch European Championship matches on a large screen. According to information from Smålands-Tidningen, the Swedish man intervened in a violent dispute, after which he himself was attacked.
Copenhagen Police arrived at the scene after 21:00 and found the Swedish national with serious injuries. He was rushed to Rigshospitalet with his condition assessed as life-threatening.
Ekstra Bladet reports that three people left the scene hurriedly following the assault.
On Wednesday, police chose to release a photograph of the suspected perpetrator and called on him to come forward.
– We know his name, but if anyone has information about the case or knows where he is, they are asked to call Copenhagen Police on 114, the authority stated.
By Thursday, the suspect was still at large.
– He has not been arrested yet, confirms Bettina Blom from Copenhagen Police.
The authorities do not wish to comment on the man's health condition or disclose how the case has been classified.
