Suspect detained in Haina for robbery and gagging of actor Kenny Grullón

According to infobae.com, the National Police of the Dominican Republic detained a man in Haina accused of breaking into the residence of actor and comedian Kenny Grullón, threatening him with a sharp object, and stealing money and belongings from him. During the operation, officers managed to recover the victim's mobile phone and wedding ring.

The arrested man was identified as Yefry Manuel J., aged 30, known by the aliases "Babo" and "Jefry". Agents from the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DICRIM) located him in Haina, province of San Cristóbal, pursuant to arrest warrant "2026-AJ0086136".

According to the police report, the suspect allegedly entered Grullón's residence on 2 September, located in the University Zone of the National District, after forcing a rear door. Once inside, he threatened him, gagged him, and took an iPhone 13 Pro Max, a yellow gold ring, and a sum of cash, the amount of which was not specified by the institution.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max and wedding ring were recovered by investigators and, according to the police report, belong to Kenny Grullón. The investigation was coordinated by prosecutor Liyanny del Orbe María, of the National District jurisdiction.

The Police did not report whether the detainee had legal representation at the time of his arrest.

Criminal record history in dispute

In images of the police presentation released alongside the report, the institution indicated that Jiménez has nine documented files, corresponding to the period between 19 December 2020 and 11 December 2025. This data contrasts with the Police's initial statement, which attributes to him "more than ten records" for various offences. The documented records are located in San Cristóbal, the National District, and Santo Domingo.

Among the files is an arrest warrant from 25 March 2024, issued in San Cristóbal for an alleged violation of article 309-2 of the Dominican Criminal Code, linked to a complaint of domestic violence, threats, and assault against his ex-partner.

The images also include a case from 16 June 2024 in Santo Domingo Oeste, classified as armed robbery, following a complaint filed by Benjamín Pérez Hernández for an incident that occurred around 07:00 hours on Mexico Avenue, Buenos Aires sector.

The police report also mentions investigations into armed robberies and motorcycle theft in Los Bajos de Haina, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, and the National District, recorded in 2020, 2021, and 2024. In one case from that latter year, security cameras allegedly captured the detainee during the theft of a motorcycle.

The authorities clarified that the records mentioned correspond to complaints, warrants, and previous investigations and do not in themselves imply a judicial conviction.
