According to eluniverso.com, the National Police intervened at a property in the El Edén sector of Santo Domingo that allegedly functioned as an extraction and irregular distribution point for hydrocarbon derivatives.
At the location, officers discovered a handmade tunnel connected directly to the Esmeraldas-Santo Domingo pipeline. The Interior Minister, John Reimberg, confirmed the discovery through social media platform X.
During the operation, a tanker truck and a reservoir tank with a capacity of 3,000 gallons containing hydrocarbon derivatives were seized, as well as a high-pressure hose approximately 25 metres long.
The seized vehicle had a previous record of seizure at the same property for acts related to illegal fuel extraction. This element will be considered as part of ongoing investigations.
No arrests have been reported in connection with this intervention so far.
