23 sexual assaults in Ceuta: eight arrested of Moroccan, Spanish and Belgian origin

The Prosecutor's Office in Ceuta has opened 23 procedures for sexual assaults committed in the context of the mass arrival of migrants from Morocco in July, according to La Vanguardia. Five of those cases correspond to rapes, that is, assaults involving penetration.
Among the victims, nine are minors, aged between 14 and 17 years old. All of them are migrants. One of the victims belongs to the LGBTQ+ community, according to sources from the public ministry.
To date, eight suspected perpetrators have been identified: four of Moroccan nationality, three Spanish and one Belgian. The remaining attackers remain unidentified by the State's police and security forces.
The updated figures correspond to Monday and represent an increase compared with the figures revealed last week by State Prosecutor General Teresa Peramato during her visit to Ceuta. Peramato reported at that time 16 sexual assaults with 17 victims registered since the mass crossing, through which more than 80,000 people entered the city in less than 48 hours.
The prosecutor general also noted that during the crisis an increase has been detected in crimes against property, as well as in crimes of assault and resistance to law enforcement officers.
