Local Police Officer Dies at Corps Headquarters in Cee
According to Google News ES — Crime (es), Manuel García Leal, an officer of the Local Police of Cee, was found dead on Wednesday afternoon in the premises of the corps, located on the ground floor of the municipal building, in the town centre.
His family had been searching for him unsuccessfully for hours from five in the afternoon. Shortly before eight, a colleague found him already deceased at the police headquarters.
The investigation opened points to the officer taking his own life with a service weapon belonging to the corps, although final conclusions are still pending the results of the judicial process.
The news caused considerable shock in the town, and numerous people gathered in front of the police premises.
The Municipal Council of Cee announced through its social media three days of official mourning, from 27 to 29 August. The municipal statement notes that "as a show of respect and condolence, during these days the flags on municipal buildings will fly at half-mast and institutional events organised by the Town Hall will be suspended".
The municipal corporation extended its condolences to the officer's family and relatives, as well as to his colleagues at the Local Police, and expressed its "respect, affection and recognition for the services provided to our town and its citizens".
