Death of elderly man forgotten in minibus in Tomares: driver arrested

Google News ES — Crime (es) reports that the Civil Guard has detained one person and is investigating another as alleged perpetrators of serious negligent homicide, following the death of an 84-year-old man inside a minibus in Tomares, Seville.

The events took place last Friday. A driver of a minibus equipped for transporting day-centre users collected several people from different locations and afterwards arrived at the facilities, where the users got off the vehicle.

The 84-year-old man, a wheelchair user, is believed to have remained in the rear section of the vehicle—equipped for this type of transport—without anyone noticing his presence, according to investigation findings.

Hours later, centre workers located the elderly man inside the parked minibus and immediately alerted emergency services. The medical teams deployed to the scene confirmed his death and the corresponding judicial protocol was activated.

After gathering evidence and taking statements, the Civil Guard proceeded to detain the driver and investigate another person. Both are part of the centre's geriatric staff.

The proceedings have been placed at the disposal of Plaza 7 of the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Seville.
