The Guardia Civil has arrested one person and is investigating another for an alleged offence of homicide through gross negligence, according to reports from Google News ES — Crime. Both are staff members at a care home for the elderly in Tomares, Seville.
The incident occurred on Friday, 21 August, when the driver of a minibus from the centre collected several residents from various points and transported them back to the facilities. After the passengers disembarked, an 84-year-old man, a wheelchair user, remained in the rear section of the vehicle, which is equipped for this type of transport, without anyone noticing his presence.
The minibus remained parked for several hours. Workers from the centre itself eventually located the man inside the vehicle and immediately alerted emergency services. The medical teams deployed to the scene confirmed the elderly man's death, which activated the corresponding judicial protocol.
The Guardia Civil's Territorial Team of Judicial Police in Mairena de Aljarafe took charge of the investigation with the aim of clarifying the circumstances of the incident. The proceedings conducted have been made available to Court 7 of the Investigative Section of the Court of First Instance in Seville.
