Anti-Corruption Prosecutors Seek Investigation into PSOE Nepotism at Jaén Public Company
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutors' Office has requested that judge Pedraz investigate the hiring of a young woman at Resurja, allegedly orchestrated by the "undercover operations" network and deputy Juanfran Serrano.
Prosecutors ask judge Pedraz to investigate the contract of Grinda's complainant at Resurja
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutors' Office has asked National Court judge Santiago Pedraz to open an investigation into the alleged irregular placement of the complainant against prosecutor José Grinda at a public company dependent on the Provincial Council of Jaén, controlled by the PSOE. According to ABC, the written submission was filed on 5 June.
The young woman identified as M. S. R., a Socialist activist from Alcaudete, was allegedly hired at Residuos Urbanos de Jaén SA (Resurja) through the mediation of national deputy Juan Francisco Serrano—known internally as Juanfran—a former direct collaborator of Santos Cerdán, former secretary of Organisation of the PSOE. Intercepted conversations with Leire Díez, referred to in the case file as the party's "plumber", reveal that Serrano allegedly used his political influence to guarantee the young woman "a more stable financial situation".
The objective: to pressure prosecutor Grinda
The alleged "undercover operations" network would have reactivated a judicial case against Grinda that had already been closed—he had previously been acquitted of having maintained sexually explicit conversations with a girl who was then under 15 years old—to use it as a lever for extortion. In exchange for the compromising information, the network allegedly demanded that the prosecutor provide confidential data about his superior, Alejandro Luzón, and the dismissal of corruption cases linked to Pedro Sánchez's circle.
In a notebook seized from Díez the following note appeared: "€300,000 to help a prosecutor who has a problem with a minor".
What the Prosecutors' Office is requesting from Resurja
In their written submission of 5 June, the prosecutors requested exhaustive information from Resurja regarding the employment relationship maintained with M. S. R.: type of contract, duration, functions performed, reasons for hiring, chain of command under which she worked, and, where applicable, reasons for termination.
Anti-Corruption is also demanding all documentation relating to the selection process: the person or body responsible for hiring, the competing candidates, and the evaluation criteria applied. The purpose is to determine whether there was manipulation in access to public employment.
In parallel, the Prosecutors' Office has asked the Court of First Instance of Majadahonda to transfer the civil liability proceedings arising from the crime against sexual liberty and integrity attributed to Grinda, in which M. S. R. appears as the injured party.
The young woman's statement to the Civil Guard
M. S. R. herself declared to the Civil Guard on 27 May that she had maintained temporary employment with Resurja. According to her testimony, from 2021 or 2022 she had been chaining temporary one-year contracts, alternated with periods of six months without work. Her last contract ended in March 2026, with tasks involving street cleaning and public gardening. She reported that "they called me on the telephone a few weeks after I had sent them my curriculum vitae".
Messages from Leire Díez document how she pressured Serrano to expedite hiring at the entity, which was then chaired by Francisco Reyes, someone close to the deputy. Days after Díez demanded his intervention, the young woman told her that Resurja had indeed called her for "a few months" of work. Díez's response was recorded in the case file: "Juanfran has been obedient".
The origins of the agreement, from New York to Ferraz
According to M. S. R.'s testimony, the origins of the agreement date back to 2021. Colombian journalist and lawyer Yohir Akerman contacted her from New York along with an individual named Vytenis and proposed reopening the "sexting" case. Both of them moved her to Madrid and put her in contact with Leire Díez, who assured her that she would "go after him [Grinda] so the case would come to light".
The following day, the young woman was taken to the PSOE's national headquarters on Ferraz street, where she met with Santos Cerdán and Juanfran Serrano to address the judicial proceedings.
Pedraz also demands PSOE bank accounts
In a ruling also issued on 5 June, judge Pedraz agreed to request bank movements from six PSOE accounts for the period 2024-2025, as the UCO had requested. The magistrate has announced that he will issue a separate ruling on the steps requested by the Public Prosecutors' Office, among which is the contract of the young woman in Alcaudete.
