A man of Senegalese origin was detained in Palma, on the island of Mallorca, accused of trafficking in a psychoactive substance. Officers seized approximately thirty kilogrammes of nitrous oxide, commonly known as 'laughing gas', as well as tools for its administration.
Everything began in the early hours of Saturday, when officers from the Operational Response Group spotted a person exhibiting nervous and evasive behaviour near Playa de Palma. Upon approaching him, the agents noticed that he was carrying the keys to a hired vehicle that was parked a few metres away. The suspect claimed that the car belonged to an acquaintance.
When searching the vehicle, police discovered eighteen containers holding nitrous oxide, each weighing approximately one and a half kilogrammes. They also found items intended to facilitate consumption of the substance by potential customers.
Subsequently, the first detainee called his associate, who arrived at the scene and admitted to being the owner of all the merchandise. It was then that the officers proceeded with his arrest, charging him with an alleged offence against public health for drug distribution.
