The National Police have dismantled two drug dealing points in Málaga city, according to Google News ES — Crime (es). One of them operated through an exchange system using the letterbox of a residential building in the city centre. In total, three people have been arrested, two of whom have been remanded in custody.
The investigation began following repeated complaints from residents of a block in central Málaga, concerned by the constant flow of people outside the building. Operating there was what was known as the 'drug letterbox', a mechanism designed to avoid direct contact between seller and buyer.
The suspected operator would deposit previously requested cocaine doses inside the letterbox, and buyers would leave the agreed sum of money in the same space. With this procedure, the suspect intended to avoid being caught in the act of a transaction by officers.
Once identified, he was arrested and brought before the courts, which ordered his remand in custody. A search of his home allowed investigators to seize 350 grammes of cocaine, over 9,000 euros in cash and two high-end vehicles.
Second dealing point dismantled a week later
Just a week later, investigators identified a second active dealing point, this time at a property in the Carretera de Cádiz area. Unlike the first, in this case sales were conducted without any attempt at concealment: the suspect was dealing drugs in public, in full view of passers-by unconnected to the illegal activity.
The investigation determined that supplies were being stored at the property itself, where the individual lived with his partner. Following various surveillance operations, officers intercepted several buyers, from whom cocaine and heroin were seized.
A subsequent search of the premises allowed officers to seize 29 heroin wraps, 46 crack cocaine wraps and over 500 euros in cash. The man, who was also remanded in custody, and his partner were arrested.
Both dealing points were described by the National Police as "highly active" at the time of their dismantling.
