Captain of Komodo shipwreck that killed four Valencia residents sentenced to 3.5 years
An Indonesian court has sentenced the captain of the KM Putri Sakinah to prison for negligence. Four members of a Valencia family died in the incident on 26 December.

An Indonesian court sentenced the captain of the tourist vessel KM Putri Sakinah on Monday to three and a half years in prison after the ship sank in December off the island of Padar in Komodo National Park, according to La Vanguardia.
The 22-year-old chief engineer received a sentence of two years and six months. The court found both men guilty of negligence. A police investigation determined that the steering was not being controlled by the 56-year-old captain at the moment of the accident, but by the chief engineer, who did not hold the necessary licence.
The KM Putri Sakinah sank on 26 December at around 20:30 local time (12:30 GMT) in Komodo waters. On board was a Valencia family of six members. Four of them died, including Fernando Martín Carreras, coach of the Valencia CF women's B team. His partner, Andrea Ortuño, and one daughter survived, along with the Indonesian crew consisting of the captain, the chief engineer, two workers and a guide.
