Arrest at Las Palmas nightclub: cocaine and money concealed at the bar
The National Police arrested the manager of the nightclub La Pequeña Habana on Friday, 23 October, located on Fernando Guanarteme street in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking offence. According to laprovincia.es, during a search of the premises, officers seized several packages containing a substance apparently consistent with cocaine, as well as €1,407 in cash.
The operation began in the morning, after officers from the Citizen Care Unit (GAC) became aware that the establishment was allegedly open outside its usual hours. The venue had previously been flagged as a possible point of consumption and sale of narcotics, a circumstance that prompted the police action.
Once inside, officers carried out an exhaustive inspection of the establishment. In a waste bin in the bathroom, they found nine individual packages containing a white substance consistent with cocaine, with an approximate weight of 5.2 grammes.
The officers also identified and searched the people present in the venue at that time. One of them had a package with similar characteristics seized, which led to the preparation of an administrative report for possession of narcotic substances.
The cash in total—€1,407—was found distributed in various areas of the premises, partly concealed in the bar area. In light of all the evidence found, officers proceeded to arrest the manager of the establishment.
No further details have been released so far regarding the legal situation of the arrested person or the origin of the seized money.
The operation also involved the participation of the Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which was responsible for verifying possible administrative irregularities in the operation of the venue. Among the incidents detected were the alleged breach of the permitted hours for the activity and deficiencies in emergency exits. These violations were subject to administrative actions separate from the National Police's criminal investigation.
The outcome of the operation is, for now, one person arrested for an alleged drug trafficking offence and the seizure of narcotics and cash.
