Assault and unlawful detention in Palma
According to El Confidencial, the National Police in Palma arrested four members of the same family accused of assaulting a young man and detaining him against his will. The young man filed a complaint on 5 October, accompanied by his parents, after being assaulted and threatened at the residence of those arrested.
The young man explained to officers that he had been in an affective relationship with a girl from that family for approximately a month and a half. The two communicated via messages and photos. On 4 October, the girl arranged to meet him at 19:00 hours at her home.
When the young man arrived at the residence, three men were waiting for him in the hallway to force him inside. Once inside, they began to assault him with blows. At that moment, the mother of the girl appeared in a video conference with the father of the girl, who made death threats against the complainant. One of the attackers took his mobile phone from him and forced him to unlock it to delete all photos, videos and messages shared with the girl.
The assault ended when the young man's parents came to collect their son. They took him to a medical centre for treatment of his injuries and then went to the police station to file a formal complaint.
Officers arrested the four people on Thursday. Three of them were accused as alleged perpetrators of offences of threats, coercion, unlawful detention and bodily harm. The fourth person was accused solely of threats.
