The police operation on Valencian beaches concluded with dozens of detainees, hundreds of identity checks and drug offence reports, as well as complaints of gender-based violence and one rape case.

The Cabanyal-Malvarrosa beaches were the scene on Tuesday night of a major security operation in connection with the San Juan celebrations. The operation, which ran from 18:00 until the following morning, concluded with forty people taken into police custody.
According to an official statement from the National Police Corps, officers carried out 927 identity checks and drew up 225 reports, almost two hundred of which (193) were for possession of psychoactive substances. The grounds for the arrests include drug trafficking, collective brawls, vehicle theft and assaults on public officials.
A brawl involving four individuals armed with blunt objects took place in the vicinity of a nightclub establishment, which led to their arrest. Meanwhile, a man was detained while struggling inside another person's vehicle; at the moment of his arrest he assaulted a female officer, causing her injuries.
The operation's record also includes the filing of a complaint for a sexual offence and two for domestic abuse.
Outside the capital, in Gandía 215 identity checks were carried out and 37 reports were drawn up for drug possession and use, as well as one for carrying weapons. In Sagunto, the figures were 34 identity checks and two reports for drug consumption and possession.
