A police operation launched early this morning in Jaén province has resulted in the detention of four National Police officers, all members of the specialist drugs team at Linares Police Station. The operation, still ongoing, is being directed by the Internal Affairs Unit.

The arrests of the officers are part of a wider investigation into an alleged organisation dedicated to drug trafficking. According to sources from the force itself, the number of detainees has already risen to twenty people, including the four police officers.

Since early Wednesday, simultaneous raids have been taking place in the Arrayanes area and at police facilities. The operation is targeting several criminal gangs that are said to operate in Linares, Linares-Baeza Station and other nearby towns.

The National Police has confirmed the detentions, though it has declined to provide further details due to the secrecy of the investigation.
