Four arrested in Caudete for garage theft, criminal damage and driving without licence
The Guardia Civil arrested four residents of Caudete aged between 17 and 32 as part of Operation 'Jadoncha' for robbery with force and wilful criminal damage.
Operation 'Jadoncha': four arrested following theft of a van and its subsequent arson
The Investigation Team of the Guardia Civil in Caudete arrested four residents of the Albacete locality aged between 17 and 32, according to a statement issued by the Armed Forces Institute. The arrested individuals are suspected of committing robbery with force against property and wilful criminal damage. One of them is also under investigation for an offence against road safety for driving without a driving licence.
The facts began with a complaint from a resident of Caudete, who reported having been the victim of a robbery in a communal garage located in the town centre. According to ABC, the perpetrators forced open a garage door, stole a van, two bicycles, a motorcycle jacket and various personal effects, and also caused damage to a motorcycle parked in the same location.
Following receipt of the complaint, the Guardia Civil activated an operational plan aimed at locating the vehicle and identifying those responsible. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery of the van completely burnt out in an area on the outskirts of the municipality.
During the investigation, officers reviewed images from the town council's public security surveillance cameras. The recordings showed how two of those involved accessed the inside of the garages whilst the other two remained outside carrying out surveillance duties. The investigators managed to fully identify one of them and observed how all four left the location in the stolen vehicle.
Based on that initial identification, officers proceeded to locate and arrest the other individuals involved, who are also attributed with having set fire to the stolen van. The police proceedings, conducted by the Investigation Team of the Guardia Civil in Caudete, were made available to the Judicial Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Almansa, acting as duty court.
