Anti-drug operation in Iurreta
The Ertzaintza arrested a 41-year-old man last Thursday in the vicinity of a vegetable garden in Iurreta (Bizkaia) after discovering almost four kilograms of drugs, according to a report by El Confidencial. Officers attended the location following a call about a disturbance shortly before 16:00 hours.
During an inspection of the sheds on the property, officers observed branches of marijuana plants hanging inside. A thorough subsequent search revealed 1.7 kilograms of marijuana in buds, 2.2 kilograms chopped, 40 grammes of amphetamine sulphate, ten pink pills, weighing equipment and more than seven thousand euros in cash.
In addition to the drugs, officers seized four air-powered rifles, ammunition and other items used in drug trafficking. The man arrested, identified as the owner of the vegetable garden, was taken to the Ertzaintza facilities to carry out the corresponding procedures.
The investigation extended to a second suspect, aged 39, who arrived at the location before the search. According to officers, part of the marijuana belonged to him. This man has five previous arrests. The Ertzaintza opened proceedings against him as an investigated party for the same offence of drug trafficking.
The main suspect was brought before a judge on Friday following the completion of procedures at the police station.
