The National Institute of Cybersecurity (Incibe) has identified several deceptive email campaigns posing as the National Police, the Civil Guard, and Incibe itself in order to extort recipients.
The fraud is carried out through messages informing the recipient of alleged crimes linked to viewing pornographic material. Along with the email, the scammers include a file warning of a possible arrest if the person does not respond within two days.
This cyberfraude technique, known as phishing, aims to frighten users in order to obtain financial gain or access private data. The authorities advise ignoring these messages, not responding or downloading the attached documents, as they may contain malicious programmes or be used to steal personal information.
