Arrested in Burgos with European extradition warrant for robbery with violence
The National Police detained on 31 August in a district of Burgos a man aged between 20 and 25 years against whom a European Arrest and Surrender Order (EASO) was in force, according to ABC.
The order had been issued in July by a court in Romania, the arrested man's country of origin, as a result of a prison sentence of four years for participating in a robbery with violence committed in that country in January 2026.
The operation was initiated after the Provincial Police Station of Burgos received information and details on the order from the central-level fugitive location unit of the National Police. Local officers located the young man late in the afternoon and proceeded to transfer him to police headquarters to complete the procedures prior to his appearance before the requesting court.
The detainee has been transferred to the National Court, the body competent to process extraditions in Spain. His final destination is surrender to the Romanian judicial authorities.
