Man arrested in Cádiz for stealing and vandalising public security cameras
An individual was taken into custody yesterday by National Police officers in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), accused of stealing and vandalising several municipal video surveillance devices. The arrested man admitted his involvement in the incidents to officers.
The first incident occurred on 15 May, when a control camera disappeared and the solar panel powering it was rendered non-functional. Shortly afterwards, in early June, new acts of vandalism were detected against two other cameras, from which solar collectors had also been removed.
Thanks to examination of recovered images, investigators were able to trace the vehicle linked to the suspect. Once a complaint was filed with the National Police, coordination between this force, the Local Police, the Solfix company and contributions from municipal residents facilitated the identification of the perpetrator.
Jesús Garay, councillor responsible for Security and Local Police, praised the cooperation between law enforcement in resolving the case and thanked the citizens for their collaboration.
