Man arrested following burglary at chimney company in Castellón
Castellón Local Police detained a 55-year-old man, identified by the initials K.C., in the early hours of Friday as the alleged perpetrator of a breaking and entering at a company dedicated to chimney manufacturing located on Avenida Castell Vell, according to castellonaldia.elmundo.es.
The Integrated Municipal Safety and Emergency Centre (CIMSE), based at the Local Police headquarters, received the alert at 06:40. The caller reported hearing loud noises and the sound of breaking glass coming from inside the premises, and that there could be a person stealing items from inside.
The CIMSE immediately mobilised several patrols, which travelled to the location and accessed the area from different points to verify what had happened and locate the possible perpetrators.
One of the patrols observed a man leaving the vicinity of the company who matched the description provided by the caller. The individual had recent marks on his clothing and arms which, according to the officers' checks, were consistent with the elements present in the area where entry to the premises had allegedly taken place.
An inspection of the facilities confirmed that one of the doors had been forced and that a window pane was broken, the point through which entry to the interior had apparently been gained. Local Police located the owner of the business, who verified the damage caused.
Based on the evidence gathered, the officers proceeded to detain K.C. and informed him of the reasons for his arrest and his rights. The detainee was transferred to the Provincial Police Station of the National Police Force in Castellón, where he remained in police custody for the continuation of proceedings.
The councillor for Safety and Emergencies, Antonio Ortolá, highlighted "the rapid response of the Local Police to the alert received, which made it possible to immediately mobilise several patrols and locate the alleged perpetrator in the vicinity of the premises". Ortolá also valued "the coordination between the CIMSE and the police units, which is fundamental for providing a rapid response to any alert and acting effectively when a criminal act is taking place". The councillor added that the force "continues working to strengthen security in Castellón".
