A man with an active arrest and search warrant was arrested in El Puerto de Santa María after stealing a mobile telephone from several young people and assaulting a Local Police officer when officers attempted to restrain him.
The arrest took place during the night of Friday, as part of the public safety patrols carried out in the Plaza de los Jazmines and Avenida de la Estación. A group of young people alerted officers that a man had stolen their mobile telephone and had fled in the direction of Sanlúcar. The police initiated a search of the area and managed to locate the alleged perpetrator.
During the intervention, the individual resisted and kicked one of the local officers. After being restrained, the officers found that an active arrest warrant existed against him. He was taken to police facilities and placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, which ordered his imprisonment.
According to El Puerto al minuto, the operation is part of the surveillance schemes that are regularly carried out in the area of Parque Calderón, Avenida de la Estación and Plaza de los Jazmines, with the aim of ensuring public coexistence and the safety of residents in the area.
