National Police detained a man in Elche on suspicion of a crime against industrial property rights, according to cadenaser.com. The case began when officers from the Cybercrime unit of the Murcia Superior Police Headquarters detected an advertisement online for a car with the appearance of a Ferrari 360 Spider offered at a price far below market value.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle was a replica built on the chassis of another brand, using fibreglass and low-cost materials. Despite this, it illegally reproduced the design lines, logos and typography of the Italian firm.
The operation made it possible to locate the vehicle in the El Altet area, where it was seized by officers. Although the car had documentation adapted to traffic regulations, investigators determined that the use of Ferrari's identifying elements constituted a criminal breach.
The detainee is accused of violating the industrial property rights of the brand. The case highlights police surveillance of this type of fraud in the second-hand vehicle market.
