Swedish criminal gang member detained in Spain linked to serious violent offences
Spanish police have detained a Swedish citizen who has been wanted internationally since last winter, suspected of involvement in various serious violent crimes committed in Sweden, reports SVT.
The arrested man had been released on bail in absentia during February and was located and detained this Thursday by Spanish law enforcement. He is being investigated for his suspected involvement in criminal network environments within the sphere of serious organised crime.
– We have been working intensively for a year against several suspects in a case that has resulted in new charges for crimes with local, national and international ramifications, states Fredrik Malm, head of the Skaraborg police district, in a statement.
The charges against the detained man include conspiracy to commit murder on two occasions, conspiracy to commit serious destruction posing general danger, as well as the involvement of minors in criminal activities.
The investigation has been led over the past year by Skaraborg police, in collaboration with specialists from the West police region and the National Operational Division (Noa).
– That a suspect has been deprived of liberty abroad is the result of Swedish police, both at local and national level, having developed new methodologies against serious organised crime. A criminality that not only crosses borders but, cynically, involves young people in its criminal plans, Malm points out.
