Arrested for hidden cameras in pub toilet

According to El Confidencial, the National Police in Logroño detained a man on Friday who was accused of installing a recording device in the women's toilet of a leisure establishment in the city. Two female customers discovered a mobile phone positioned in the ventilation shaft, aimed directly at the toilet bowl.

The women noticed fragments of insulating material falling from the ceiling. Upon inspecting the area, they located the hidden device in the air extraction duct. The device's screen displayed the message "Recording since 03:37". Both left the premises with the phone and alerted a nearby Local Police patrol.

Officers confirmed that the device continued recording at the time of discovery. Shortly afterwards they received a call from the registered owner of the mobile phone, who went to the scene. The man claimed that the garment containing the telephone had been stolen from him approximately three hours earlier.

Upon unlocking the device without difficulty, he attempted to delete the stored videos. This attempt prompted officers to immediately seize the phone. The subsequent investigation revealed sufficient evidence of his involvement in the crime of disclosure and revelation of secrets. The arrested man was placed at the disposal of the courts.

The operation highlighted the coordination between the National Police and Local Police in investigating conduct that violates privacy. The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting victims.
