Man arrested as "Spiderman thief" in Murcia for six burglaries

National Police have arrested a man accused of gaining access to homes by climbing facades and balconies in the Vistabella neighbourhood. The judge has ordered his provisional imprisonment.

Arrest of suspect in anti-robbery operation

According to El Confidencial, officers from the National Police have arrested a man in Murcia as the suspected perpetrator of six aggravated burglaries in homes in the Vistabella neighbourhood. The investigation began after a surge in residential break-ins was detected during August and September, which had generated concern among residents in the area.

The detainee used the climbing method, known in police terminology as the "Spiderman thief", which consists of scaling facades to reach windows and balconies. In some cases he took advantage of terraces and interior patios to act with greater stealth and reduce the risk of being detected.

The Specialised Crime Group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade took charge of the proceedings and identified the suspect after deploying a location operation. The arrested man was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, which ordered his admission into provisional imprisonment.
