Arrest for homicide in La Latina
The National Police arrested a man in Madrid after murdering his two parents in a violent attack carried out with a dumbbell. According to The Olive Press, the incident occurred in a property located on Paseo de Húsares, in the Madrid district of La Latina.
Officers were alerted shortly after 4 a.m. on Monday when a man called for help. The emergency services centre received cries of "he's going to kill me!". The two victims, identified as the arrested man's parents, were around 75 years old. The attacker killed his mother first.
Rescue and apprehension operation
A National Police patrol was dispatched to the property. The son refused to open the door, so officers broke it down using a battering ram. They found him barricaded in a bedroom, holding a blood-stained dumbbell next to the bodies of his parents.
The arrested man displayed, according to a police statement, a very high degree of violence during the operation. Officers used a taser to subdue him and carry out the arrest. The Summa 112 confirmed that both bodies showed signs of violence caused by a blunt object.
