Man arrested in Majadahonda with signal jammer after robbing eight cars
The Guardia Civil arrested a 43-year-old Madrid resident who used a frequency jammer to steal from cars in shopping centre car parks. He is accused of 16 criminal offences.
Arrested in Majadahonda for 16 offences with central locking jammer
The Guardia Civil has arrested a 43-year-old Madrid resident in Majadahonda accused of robbing eight vehicles parked in shopping centre car parks. According to ABC, the arrested man is attributed with a total of 16 criminal offences for theft with force, fraud and offences against road safety.
How he operated: signal blocked, doors unlocked
The method was always the same. The detainee travelled to car park areas of shopping centres and activated a frequency jammer at the moment the owner pressed the remote control to lock their vehicle. The device blocked the signal and left the car unlocked, which allowed him to access the interior without forcing the locks or leaving visible traces of tampering.
Once inside, he stole electronic devices, personal effects and bank cards. The total value of items stolen in the cases investigated exceeds 7,800 euros. The bank cards seized were subsequently used by him to make purchases at 24-hour food shops, which earned him two additional fraud charges.
Drove without a licence with permit suspended by court order
To the eight theft offences are added six more against road safety. Investigators confirmed that the arrested man was driving despite having his driving licence suspended by court order. Guardia Civil sources indicate that the man had exhausted all the points on his licence and never attended the mandatory recovery courses.
The detainee has numerous previous convictions for offences of a similar nature and has already been brought before the courts. The investigation remains open and the force does not rule out further action as the analysis of items related to the thefts progresses.
A similar case one day earlier
The arrest took place one day after a similar incident in another Madrid municipality. The Guardia Civil arrested a man the previous Wednesday accused of committing four thefts with force on five vehicles parked in El Berruco, Lozoyuela, El Cuadrón and Las Rozas. In that case, the suspect physically forced open the cars to access the interior and subsequently resold the stolen items at prices far below their market value.
