A 37-year-old man has been taken into custody in Málaga accused of unlawfully detaining an acquaintance for an extended period, assaulting him and intimidating him. The investigation suggests the detained man suspected the victim was having a romantic relationship with his partner.
The incident took place in the capital of the Costa del Sol in recent days. The arrested man, who allegedly was under the effects of a high consumption of alcohol or drugs, tracked down the victim to reproach him for the alleged infidelity. He then forcibly drove him to a property.
Once inside the residence, the kidnapper kept the man locked in for several hours. During that time, the captive suffered beatings and intimidation. The investigation indicates that the captor allowed him to leave the building on certain occasions, although he subsequently forced him to return by dragging him.
The alert to the authorities came around midnight. The hostage's wife discovered that her husband was imprisoned in a residence where several people were shouting threats. She hesitated to call for help, but finally a friend persuaded her to call the police.
Upon arriving at the location, the uniformed officers knocked on the door. The alleged perpetrator opened it and came out without resisting. The agents noted that he had a wild-eyed expression and lacked the capacity to communicate or recount events, a presumable consequence of his state of intoxication or substance abuse.
